Re: What are you watching?
I marathoned Mayoiga this morning. It's not as bad as some people have made it out to be but it sure as heck wasn't good. I gave it 4/10. The fact that I wanted to know how the whole mess ended is a plus. The fact that the characters were really stupid (and one dimensional) didn't help. It started out like a horror series and then became a psychological series..just as I got my hopes up that the body count was going to rocket up. That was a disappointment to say the least.

Amongst a pile of other things, I've been watching this series of shorts: Aggressive Retsuko. It might just be my imagination but I find that the little stories are getting progressively funnier.

What is your take on Keijo? It is strange that such a show could even rear its head...

I'm loving it! It's so absurd that I have a blast each episode

Re: What are you watching?
I intend to watch at least one episode of Keijo...got too much other stuff on my plate right now to get around to it (in particular...guitar practices).
I took a boo at Soushin Shoujo Mato last night (didn't watch the whole episode from end to end). Not too sure if I'll watch the rest of the series. One of the characters is almost painful to watch but the rest of the cast is okay. We'll see....

Re: What are you watching?
Picked a random anime out of my pile of stuff to watch...it was an episode of Knights of Sidonia. Turns out I picked the last episode in the TV series. Will probably go back and watch the rest of the series. An acquaintance who runs a diner had a copy of the first tankoubon sitting around and I had taken a peek at it. Wasn't too captivated by the manga (which features lots of panels with plenty of black backgrounds) but I'm willing to the franchise a second look now.

The best part is it takes itself seriously and is trying to be a real sport's anime lol. We're finishing up Tokyo Ghoul and Rage of Bahamut ourselves. Bit of an odd mix to be watching at the same time.

I started watching Daphne in the Brilliant Blue yesterday. I kind of like it. It reminds me a little of Bubblegum Crisis.

Was that not the show that exhibited what one may call "creatively minimal" costume designs?

^ Yes, I think you're right on that count. I watched that show ages ago. It was one I dropped and then revisited. Finished it in a marathon session. I don't remember all the plot twists and side stories but I do remember I enjoyed it for more than just the costume designs. Actually, I probably dropped it the first time around because of the costume designs.

Re: What are you watching?
I didn't have much to do over the weekend on account of being sick. So I watched the first season of Gate on Youtube. It was good enough to keep my attention. Given that the original web novels were written by an ex-JSDF member then it had an obvious pro-JSDF slant on its look at the events in the story. Nonetheless, the final result was entertaining enough.

Re: What are you watching?
Watched the first episode of "Houseki no Kuni" last night. It was better than I expected. Found it interesting that the Moon-folk were depicted with Buddhist imagery. More info: https://myanimelist.net/anime/35557/Houseki_no_Kuni_TV
On the other hand, the first episode of "Blend-S" was a bit of a train wreck. I might watch the series just to see how terrible it is (similar to my experience with "Mayoiga"). To me the cafe manager/dishwasher was a knock-off, in appearance, of Italia in "Hetalia". Unfortunately, the character had none of the charm that Italia has. Watch this one if you dare.... https://myanimelist.net/anime/34618/Blend_S?q=blend-s

Re: What are you watching?
A few weeks ago I plopped the first volume of the Baccano! DVD set in my R1 external DVD drive. My system came back and said it had to reset the DVD region code. That had me scratching my head. I had just watched "Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou" using my R2 external DVD drive. I had unplugged that drive and plugged in the other drive. Apparently the computer didn't recognize the switch in drives. Ended up restarting the machine.
End of story...yes, I've finally started watching Baccano!.

POP TEAM EPIC through the IG account that posts random skits instead of whole episodes. By all accounts it overwhelms you if you try to watch it like a regular anime.

Re: What are you watching?
Pop Team Epic is probably next up on my list.
I made a bit of an effort to get through Just Because! and was watching an episode a night until last weekend (which got me to episode 3). Then I got severely sidetracked.

Re: What are you watching?
I'm now working my way through Pop Team Epic. After all, I just spent about ¥8000 on garage kits of Popuko and Pipimi. As written elsewhere out there, the show is about half based on the manga and half based on random strangeness coming out of Aoki Jun's head, he being the creator of Kotatsu Neko and Space Neko Show. I must be enjoying the show because I can't get the OP song out of my head. It's not a great big laugh-a-thon and from what I can see, the parody elements are a bit on the thin side in terms of content. I'm mostly watching it for its slapstick and non sequitur elements.

Re: What are you watching?
I have piles of stuff to watch so I just grabbed whatever seemed like it'll be a quick watch. The series that got that honour is Comic Girls. It's pretty lightweight. There's enough fluff to keep the thing going and to keep my attention, sort of. I like to think of the series as a great grandchild of Hidamari Sketch.
There is another series that I'm more or less keeping up with: Satsuriku no Tenshi. Apparently it's an adaptation of a game. I'm more or less watching this one just to see what happens next. I believe the weakness of this series is that viewers are just being hauled along for the ride as the plot marches on to its final doom like Scott of the Antarctic...without really doing a good job of creating characters you feel any empathy for.

Re: What are you watching?
Decided to take a stab at one of the fall series. I randomly chose Zombieland Saga. It starts off light and fluffy but goes off on a tangent before the credits. Nice job. Yes, it's an idol group show. Yes, there are zombies. Just not in the manner one would expect from reading the description provided on MAL or by the production company. I certainly am not going to take this show seriously as I work my way this series.
