The fact that Alice and Wonderland got awards (or was even nominated at all) makes this year's Oscars very, very sad. And that's my agenda for today.

Well, I wouldn't necessarily say that. The rest of the film is terrible, yes, but at the very, very smallest minimal amount it at least deserved to win the two categories it did. If it had been nominated for anything else, yeah that truly would be sad. ;)

Boo! ;)

They could've chosen any of the other nominees. Tim Burton needs to learn to combine both story and visuals before his crappy films get any more awards.

True Grit seriously disagrees.

I wasn't surprised Alice won them and I wasn't necessarily upset, but not over joyed either. Wish Tru Grit hadn't been snubbed. I am glad King's Speech won though over Social Network. Like both but I just felt KS was more moving on a personal and human level.

The King's Speech is basically as safe and conservative of a choice as you get. Anyone who thought the Oscars had changed after No Country For Old Men beat the similarly crowd-pleasing "look at the British" Atonement back in 2008 was proven wrong.

And I like The King's Speech alright. But, it's like, British Royalty, and the poor bloke has a speech impediment, and the the pictures are, like, pretty*, so here's your Oscar!

*Let me overwhelm you with CLOSE-UPS and placing my actors at the edge of the frame. Can I haz nomination nao?

David Fincher deserves an Oscar for the category "Awesome."

I gotta say, I kind of agree. I too really liked The King's Speech and thought it deserved to get the award, but it seems to me like they did it just to look good rather than doing it because it was the best film of the year. That's the thing about the Oscars though, they'll take a King's Speech, Forrest Gump, Dances With Wolves or Rocky over a Social Network, Pulp Fiction, Goodfellas or Taxi Driver any day.

What gets me is why does a movie on FB get a nod but not the one about making the internet? What's the deal?

Which one is that? I mean the one about making the Internet? TSN isn't getting any nods just because of Facebook, though. It's actually a genuinely well-made movie.
