It looks like everyone involved actually saw the source material for it instead of just reading the cliffnotes! If it's as true as it looks, I can't wait.

*high pitched squeal* I friggin love Avatar! I watched it again last summer and plan to use it to get my roommate to try out anime! Stupid James Cameron using the name for his movie (although it interests me too, but I'm still mad at him)

Damn. I thought this was gonna' be an actual trailer instead of a teaser. I've already seen this multiple times in theaters. Oh well, here's hoping Shyamalan doesn't take a Crappening on it.

Hard to tell. But since this isn't an anime adaptation, maybe they won't eff it up too badly.

I hope that whoever plays the characters will do it correctly.

Maybe for once he won't cast himself in the damn movie.

The TV sport during the Super Bowl is freaking sweet -- I can't get the music out of my head. I cannot wait until July. :D

The newest extended theatrical trailer is even cooler.

... gah, I'm fangirling over Patel. I always had a soft spot for Prince Zuko, and now with him being Patel... yeah, loving it.

Very nice. I am interested in seeing Patel play a villain, especially since his character in Slumdog Millionaire was drastically different.

Slumdog made me really interested in him, so soon after seeing it I went and downloaded a lot of the British show Skins about a bunch of teens to early 20s just... living life, and was really impressed with Patel in it in comparison to Slumdog (his character in Skins is a total dork that gets me laughing the most). I like that boy, and can't wait for his Zuko performance because it sure is like nothing I've seen him do before. I keep hearing great things about the actor playing Zuko's uncle too.

Patel "pimpin' it out" in skins as Anwar for anyone curious:

The Last Airbender is getting slammed ... HARD

It is still early, but this is definitely not a good sign. If it really is as bad as the critics are saying, then the marketing folks did a fantastic job with the trailers. Seems as though the trailers will be far cooler than the film itself!

After reading some of those reviews (and this one), I'm thinking about skipping The Last Airbender all together. Apparently I was deluding myself into thinking that M. Night Shyamalan was actually going to succeed with this. Guess it is back to watching the original series for me.

Damn. I wasn't expecting this movie to be any good given who the director was, but I didn't expect it to get this kind of reception.

I might actually go and see this one now.

Yes, sometimes something so bad can be worth seeing. It makes sense, I promise.

Heck, I saw Twilight because I was bored and everyone else was going. (But of course, that's the only movie from the series I'll ever see.)

...Well, I had a point with this, but I forgot what it was when I started typing about Twilight. I'll probably go see it anyway — eventually — maybe when it's cheaper (a.k.a. at the university theater).

Darn, I was holding out hope this might be good, and yeah the trailers looked cool in which case yes those guys are certifiable geniuses if the movie really bombs that hard.

Glad you linked that review, Jedi, it's proving quite informative as to what's missing (which seems to be damn near everything). I just hope people don't mistake this as having come before the TV series and give it a bad name :( People are idiots so I don't doubt the possibility.

I like this quote from it:
What's left? It feels like Noah Ringer, Nicola Peltz, and Dev Patel are hanging out in front of the camera, telling you about all the cool stuff they saw while watching the television series.

Well, I guess I'll be having a show marathon instead, sounds like a much better plan, saves $10, and I've already got the DVDs.

Oof... What Ebert said here (along with JG's link) is enough to make me take back what I just said above.

My friends want to see it in 3D tomorrow but from Ebert's review I wonder if I should go. I could stand Toy Story's 3D even though it was unnecessary but why suffer a headache and a bad movie? The movie will totally bomb since it's Twilight 3's weekend.

That's it, I've firmly decided not to see it. For the price of a movie ticket, I'm going to buy myself a manga instead, any manga I want!

Yeah, I've got to say, even me who always goes to see something despite bad reviews just to formulate his own opinion of it is feeling pretty hesitant to go see it after reading those reviews....... It's at least fallen dramatically off my "must see opening weekend" status anyways. I'll probably go see it if friends or family drag me along to it, but other than that, probably no. If it ends up being that bad though I may not have to worry about that even, heh heh.

The review linked by JG heavily warned against seeing Avatar in 3D. Apparently, it's a huge waste of money (as are most/all 3D movies imho), as there's little difference between it and the 2D version, visually. Don't waste your money — convince them to go with 2D. (And please inform me when 3D is actually worth it — ever.)
