Christmas Tunes

Postby d.yaro » Sun Dec 19, 2010 11:43 pm

This tune was on a list of 10 worst modern Christmas tunes posted last year (or was it the year before) by a columnist on the CBC website. Personally, I like it...

Anyways.... Fire away with your best and worst Christmas tunes.

Oh yeah, the singer for The Pogues has what I think are the worst set of teeth I've ever seen on any human being. :P

That is surprisingly bad for a Christmas song which is usually kinda crappy.

My favorite happens to be 'Last Christmas' despite it being so damn wimpy.

I normally just put in some Christmas mix cds with tons of stuff from over the year. Classics to newer stuff. Plus there's a radio station that during December plays nothing but Christmas tunes so I can always tune to it.

I still have that Bob Rivers Christmas parody album. The first song on the album is "Walking Round in Women's Underwear" which I first heard in a department store many, many years ago. I was shopping for jeans and they had some local rock radio station piped in on the PA. Yes, they played that song on the radio...

When it comes to Christmas music, there's no band I like more than Mannheim Steamroller. I just love their interpretation of old Christmas songs, even ones I never knew existed.

Here are some of my favorite songs I like listening to at Christmas:

And I'll add this one for good measure  :

Thinking about what to put on my Christmas playlist this year already.

I usually buy at least 1 Christmas CD each year, but only if there is one with music that attracts my attention.
Last year, I had music from Pink Martini and Courage My Love.

This song on the other hand is not weird. Rather, it's a bit of a guilty pleasure..."Lonely Christmas" by Crayon Pop. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qCPFK61Yu3M

I came across a few stories on the mobile version of the CBC website which pointed out that a number of modern classic Christmas tunes were written by Jewish folk. Here's the link to one: Three popular Christmas songs that were written by Jewish songwriters
