Corvette traps would be thief

The would be thief would've been a Darwin award candidate if he had asphyxiated in the car...

B.C. Mounties Search for Brawling Santas. The quote at the end of article tops this off the best....

RCMP Cpl. Richard de Jong on cbc.ca/bc wrote:Somebody asked, 'Were they regular patrons of the pub?' and I said, 'No. I think they just come once a year.'

Man, that is one lucky, tough and determined cat. Sort of sad to read that the staff at the animal shelter are investigating the incident to find out why the cat survived two euthanasia attempts. Is this to say they want to make sure they don't have repeat occurrences?

Well I can understand. If an animal must be put down it would be better for it to die a quick death rather than suffer multiple times. I do believe that if it didn't work the first time they should have stopped. Animals rarely survive euthanasia so if it pulled through one time then it fought for that second chance with all its might. What a horrible experience for the poor kitty.

Iphone ringtone brings New York Philharmoic to a stop

Seriously?! All sorts of warnings and this guy's phone STILL went off! Inconsiderate bastard!

Off with his head! And if they can't do that $1000 fine and revoke his seating!

^ That's just so bizarre. I can't believe the guy did nothing to turn the phone off or cut the caller off. I had a similar situation once in a movie theatre where I thought I could muffle a cell phone (I didn't want to pull it out to turn it off) and in the end I silenced it by disconnecting the battery (this was about 6 years ago when I had a Motorola Startac type cell phone with an external battery).

BC Abused Kids Centre Named After KISS Member's Daughter.

It's neat to hear that positive things can get done quickly in this world. It only took four weeks to get the centre up and running. Sophie Tweed-Simmons, daughter of rock band KISS member Gene Simmons, is a patron of the centre.

cbc.ca wrote:Tweed-Simmons, 19, got involved in the project after meeting Surrey Mayor Diane Watts.

"It's really important for me to have kids have a place where adults can take them seriously and where they can express what's happened to them in a safe environment," said Tweed-Simmons.

"I have been blessed growing up in a house where I am treated as an equal and with love. The least I can do is help show children that that can be a possibility for everyone.

Wallet lost in 1949 in California discovered in B.C.

This is a cool story. I was interested in the photos of the driver's license and cardboard credit card. The 50 cent piece was an interesting item too. I wonder how common they were back in those days.

New Jersey tanning mom inspires action figure

Judging by the picture, it's obvious that the action figure looks better than the woman that inspired it. The picture would make for a good caption game, though.

Living In a Glass House

I'm surprised the author managed to write the article without working the saying "People who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones" into it.

American Tourist Becomes "Laughing Stock of Canada"

Off duty American police officer on vacation in Canada felt threatened because two young men asked him and his wife in a Calgary park "Have you been to the Stampede?". He wrote to a letter to the Calgary Herald newspaper, who initially had some doubts it was from a real person, that he felt vulnerable without his off duty gun (he wasn't allowed to bring it into Canada).

As the article says..."Wawra's letter didn't point to an unsafe Canada, it pointed to an unsafe tourist. Canada's firearm rules for the win."

man Builds himself bionic hands

The first thing I thought was "Fullmetal Alchemist"!

The second thing I thought was: if he doesn't have any hands...how did he build himself hands?

Online tongue in cheek article from the Japan Times Online site: The Buzz About Cicadas. I certainly would not want to step on a cicada...or have one flying around in my apartment.
