Re: In Memoriam
Terry Pratchett
I read parts of a couple of his works. Quite humourous with plenty of absurdity sprinkled throughout. I'll be certain to return to them someday. In the meantime, "Goodbye" to their wonderful creator.

Guenter Grass.
While I only watched the film adaptation of "The Tin Drum", I did take the time to read an English translation of "The Flounder".

Re: In Memoriam
RIP Omar Sharif - a true, wonderful, classic actor. I just found this little tidbit online:
"However, Sharif, now one of the biggest stars in the world, had just one more notable hit (beside Lawrence of Arabia and Dr. Zhivago): 1968's "Funny Girl," opposite Barbra Streisand. The film brought him some woe; his films were banned in Egypt (his homeland) because of his onscreen relationship with Streisand, a Jewish woman." That must have been heartbreaking for him.
RIP Chris Squire - I love the band "Yes". One of my favorite songs is "Holy Lamb" - it just moves me for some reason. I think it is the message of hope in the lyrics, and the music just matches the words perfectly. Here are the lyrics:
"Holy Lamb"
Holy lamb
See the world we started
Is it so low again
Like a light that's lost upon the stage
So the more it shines, it goes away
Surely then
See the curtain rising to show us once again
All the magic of the earth and the skies
See the more we find
The more we realize
That every time
See the laws of nature keep telling us like a friend
It's the spirit of emotion dancing to the wind
High above
High above
So sure inspired again
I can tell a new story now
Can we see through this mask of uncertainty
Surely now
How can it be so hard when all there is to know
Don't be afraid of letting go
It takes a loving heart
To see and show
This love
For our own ecology
Hold the light
Hold the light
Out of love we'll come a long long glorious way
At the start of every day
A child begins to play
And all we need to know
Is that the future is a friend of yours and mine

David Bowie
Sad times. New Album just dropped, Venture Brothers coming back this month too.
also am now watching the Luther special tv movie and they had a tiny part talking about David Bowie. Pretty crazy timing for me to watch this.

Merle Haggard
An acquaintance often sings "Okie from Muskogee" when we go out for karaoke. It's probably the only Merle Haggard tune on most karaoke systems over here....
