Philadelphia Company Offers Jobs In Canada

Postby d.yaro » Wed Nov 16, 2016 5:07 am

This is an interesting story. To me the important point is that the CEO of the company in question thinks most people will wait and see what changes will happen before acting on a move out of the USA. He's offering positions in his company's Vancouver office to those who "don't feel comfortable" any more in the US. http://www.cbc.ca/radio/asithappens/as-it-happens-tuesday-edition-1.3851754/after-trump-win-philadelphia-ceo-says-employees-can-relocate-to-vancouver-office-1.3852331

An admirable action, narrow in its scope though it may be. While I hold that the Canadian government should consider wider-scale actions to accommodate those who risk persecution south of the border, I imagine this would risk a souring of international relations. One wonders whether companies in 'safer' coastal US cities could consider something of this nature, if at all any leeway remains.
