I figure there might as well be a new season thread around here for at least one professional sports league.... ;)

Who would have thunk the Vancouver Canucks would be in first place in the Pacific division after the first month?

But then it's a long season.

^ Yeah... They just dropped a few points in New York though. Lost to both the Rangers and the Islanders.

Last year the Canucks looked pretty decent until about game 22. Then the long slow decline to the end of the season.

This year, so far, Las Vegas looks to hit reality.

Canucks are in a bit of a slump, eh? No wins in five, or was it six, games. Similar situation as the Oilers. Hope they can turn it around fast....

Oops...it is a six game no win streak...or is it a six game losing streak...? https://www.cbc.ca/sports/hockey/nhl/wi ... -1.4912165

How long was that losing streak the Canucks had? Eight games, eh? Then they promptly lost to the team they had defeated to snap that losing streak. :x

Canucks have posted back to back wins...first time since late October/early November. Especially liked watching the highlight video of Pettersen's (sic) penalty shot goal. Hope they can keep it rolling through the rest of their current road trip.

Seattle will probably win a Stanley Cup before the Canucks do.

Canucks had a modest win streak going on...then they ran into the current top team in the league. They put up a tough fight but came out on the short end of it. Time to start working on another winning streak.

Happiness is...being in a LINE chat with a friend and he sends a message telling me that the Canucks won in OT. Real time news can't be beat. :D (oh yeah... they beat the Flames in OT).

Wow...hard to believe. Thatcher Demko is the first Vancouver Canuck goalie ever...to start his NHL career 2-0 as a Vancouver Canuck.

as the Canucks beat the Sabres and move themselves into a playoff position. They are playing better than most thought they would.

I was watching a video on the CBC website of 9 best all star game moments in 90 seconds at work. Co-worker commented on "There's a surprise. The Canadian watching hockey highlights.". ;)

So the Boston Bruins have stamped their way to the Stanley Cup final. They certainly made short work of the Hurricanes. Meanwhile in the Western Conference, the Sharks are the beneficiaries (again) of what could pass for more than just good fortune (in the officiating department). But it's not like it's the first time that has happened....9 controversial calls/non calls in playoff history...in 90 seconds.
