Playing with photoshop

Postby Murph » Thu Dec 03, 2009 4:37 am

Bought Photoshop with my new computer, so I thought I'd have a little fun and make a quick and dirty signature with it. Since we have a few master sig makers here, I wanted to put it up for comment.

It's kind of simple, I know. But I think it serves its purpose. Thoughts?

It's a pretty good beginning.

Try playing around with the whole lot of features. I personally like to use brushes and the Liquify filter for really psychodelic backgrounds and mix a whole lot of other things.

I'll be looking forward to your new stuff, Murph.

Good start. Play around with it for a while. It's really fun. And one tip. Forget about 80% of the fonts your computer came with.

I was just about to suggest this site, but now that someone's already mentioned fonts, it's now actually relative:

http://www.fontsquirrel.com/

Lots of great fonts for free. Fonts are expensive as fudge, so this is a lovely site. ZP's right, though, the majority of your pre-installed fonts are gonna suck. Unless you have a Mac or any Adobe programs. Not too many designers are a fan of Papyrus, but ya gotta start somewhere. Looking pretty good for a start. Keep working on it!

Btw, check out Museo on that site. That's a popular one!

That site is great. I was just looking around for a few new fonts (one for my christmas sig and some more just to have)

Unrelated: My mom loves Papyrus. She was making these holiday to do lists and she used Papyrus so often it started to annoy me, so I showed her where to find the Death Note font (which she told me she loved when she saw the show once) and now she's using that
