Re: My Anime List
I tried to update the AniAlley Champagne Room with a Christmas pic and ended up hosing the whole darn thing. MAL has bizarre code running in the background. It converts certain pieces of BBcode into HTML and removes and embeds some of your text. Anyways, I've patched it up and have saved a copy of the stuff that works in a file on my laptop. That'll save me having to spend 45 minutes rebuilding the page.

Re: My Anime List
Anybody been on MAL lately? Is it me, or does that site just get worse and worse each time I go there? The blog section used to have interesting things to read, now it's mostly spambots. Not to mention pop-up ads.

Re: My Anime List
I've been on to check on our mostly quiet Anime Alley group and make the occasional update. Never did frequent the blog section. I've noticed a few of the oldtimers on some of the clubs I used to frequent have gone off line from MAL.

Re: My Anime List
i use it for the List and for a few clubs that im in that are active. The Blogs don't matter anymore, reviews, forum, nothing.
That and now they're forcing all anime titles into their romanji versions and a lot of them won't show up when searching for their english title.

Re: My Anime List
That's too bad. Makes me wonder about future showings of anime series on English language services. If they apply an English title then will that title show up on a MAL search...iwatch2muchanime wrote:That and now they're forcing all anime titles into their romanji versions and a lot of them won't show up when searching for their english title.

If it hasn't been done already, maybe we could make the Anime Alley group a public group. If we get a random person to sign up there maybe we could direct them here.

Re: My Anime List
Given the lack of activity I doubt we'd pick up any new members that way but I've set it to be a public group nonetheless. In general I've found our outlying groups to be extremely poor recruitment tools.

Re: My Anime List
Got a friend request from a total stranger. Since I don't frequent MAL that often these days I said "What the heck...why not" and added the person. Turns out the person had traced me from my last.fm profile.

Re: My Anime List
I added the 1000th title to my anime list on MAL. I thought it was the series Sekko Boys that pushed me 1000 but I suspect it was the short Space Neko Theatre. Here's the URL to watch it (minus English subs) on Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZT5AKavLQXM

Re: My Anime List
^ My count is less than half of iwatch2muchanime's count: http://myanimelist.net/profile/iwatch2muchanime. He's approaching the upper limit of the site which is 3000 anime entries. Breaking that limit is celebrated by this club: MAL 3000 Anime Entry List Breaker club.

Re: My Anime List
Came across this on MAL: "...her brain ran away". Quasi-priceless MAL factoid about the titular character of a show called "Francesca" which is supposed to promote Hokkaido. I suppose the Governor probably would've said, "No thanks. We're not that desperate for help to promote our island". I'm still going to check out this show though.

Re: My Anime List
MAL is kind of back. One can't do much other than log on and update ones account. Main database entries for shows are displayable. Most everything else is off limits. That includes clubs. I presume messaging is not available too.

Re: My Anime List
I was cleaning out my e-mail inbox when I came across an old phishing e-mail using my MAL account which I hadn't noticed at all. I've changed my username and password so best of luck to those dum dums....
